Pontus Berg is the Chief Operating Officer at Purus, overseeing group operations and leading the gas division.


Pontus has 29 years' experience in the maritime industry, including gas operations, shipbuilding and ship management. Most recently, Pontus was Executive Vice President, Technical & Operations, at BW LPG Ltd. in Singapore, which he joined in 2015. BW LPG Ltd. is the world’s largest LPG transporter and Very Large Gas Carrier (“VLGC”) owner/operator. He was part of the Executive Management team, reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors. His responsibilities included leading a global team spanning six countries with approximately 55 onshore staff and 1,100 seafarers, overseeing full fleet management & operations, commercial operations, strategic technical & technological development, newbuilding and conversion programs and driving technical innovations and designs. Prior to joining BW LGP Ltd., Pontus spent 8 years at various gas entities of the Jaccar Group (including Greenship Gas, Evergas and Eitzen Gas), where he served in various roles including Director General, Technical Manager and Fleet Manager responsible for technical and commercial management of LNG, Ethylene, Ethane, LPG and chemical tankers.


Pontus began his career serving on board chemical and product tankers as First Engineer, Chief Engineer and Fleet Superintendent. Pontus has a Bachelor of Science, Marine Engineering, from Kalmar University in Sweden.
